Group Product Manager, Growth

At mature, pre-IPO FinTech company with mission helping SMBs

Location: NYC - hybrid 3 days/week onsite

Comp: $210-262.5K base salary + options

Visas: Sorry, no visa sponsorship or transfers available

About the company:

Chances are, if you've worked for a startup or an established small-to-medium-sized business, you're probably already familiar with our client!

They're a late-stage Benefits / Payroll platform tech company (Series E, pre-IPO) in an exciting stage of substantial but responsible growth, and with great name recognition. They provide SMBs - including many in the tech industry - high-quality, enterprise-level health insurance and payroll tools that smaller businesses and their employees wouldn’t otherwise have access to.

They’re known for a standout culture rooted in honesty, openness, integrity, friendliness, no-ego, and inclusion – “collaboration” isn’t just a word on a cheesy poster in a hallway – it represents their values at their core.

Their cred:

Fortune magazine named them to their Best Workplaces in New York list 5 times, and are one of BuiltIn’s “NYC Best Large Companies to Work For".

They’ve been in business for 10+ years and are an important player in the $40B HR Tech industry. They’re secured $160M in funding from many top VCs including Bain, Thrive, FirstMark Capital, and Union Square Ventures.

Their star continues to rise rapidly; it’s a great time to get in the door! They recently expanded into global markets and have grown consistently and intelligently year over year.

They’re currently at ~1300 total employees and have doubled their Product org in the last 2 years - now ~50 Product Managers strong, and growing. They’re now adding a full suite of products to their already well-known core product, so they’re in a great place for continued growth and visibility.

About the role:

As Group Product Manager, Growth, you’ll be a key member of the team covering the end-to-end experience for small business customers and their employees—ensuring every interaction, from sign-up to graduation, is seamless, intuitive, and deeply trustworthy.

Within this mission, you’ll lead Growth, covering Acquisition, Onboarding, and Monetization squads, which together shape how customers sign-up, onboard, and grow with the company’s products.

You’ll lead and advocate for 4 product teams with full ownership of mission-critical parts of the product suite. Your top 3 areas of focus will be:

  • Align strategy and execution, translating company objectives into actionable team goals and OKRs that drive measurable impact.
  • Partner deeply with Sales, Design, Engineering, and Operations to ensure the entire customer journey, from first impression to long-term success, is cohesive and high-performing.
  • As a “data obsessed” Product leader, you’ll be working with data analytics to run experiments and make metrics-informed decisions.

This is a leadership role - you'll formally manage 3 PMs to sharpen their strategy, elevate execution, and move with speed and precision, while also largely remaining hands on in project work in one key pod.

You’ll also play a key role in strengthening the systems and processes that help the broader Product and Engineering organization scale effectively.

If you’re excited by the challenge of guiding talented teams through a pivotal growth platform transformation—within a company that values collaboration, humility, and real-world impact—this is an opportunity to do some of your most meaningful work.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own and drive the product vision and roadmap for Growth within the Lifecycle mission, spanning the Acquisition, Onboarding, and Monetization squads.
  • Translate company objectives into clear goals and OKRs, ensuring tight alignment between strategy and execution.
  • Partner closely with Sales and Marketing leadership to deliver a best-in-class prospect and customer experience.
  • Lead end-to-end product development, from discovery through delivery, guided by deep customer insight and data-informed decisions.
  • Coach and develop your team to apply customer-centric practices consistently throughout the PDLC.
  • Continuously improve product performance by analyzing outcomes, synthesizing feedback from customer-facing teams, and prioritizing high-impact iterations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to advocate for scalable, maintainable technical roadmaps that balance new development with managing technical debt.
  • Communicate progress and insights effectively to stakeholders and leadership, fostering alignment and transparency.
  • Contribute beyond your immediate scope to strengthen overall product strategy, process, and cross-functional impact.

Who you are:

  • 7+ years of product management experience in a modern tech environment, including 3+ years leading product teams (managing at least 3 direct PM reports).
  • Proven track record in Growth, particularly in conversion and onboarding, with metrics to demonstrate measurable impact.
  • Data-driven mindset: skilled in funnel analytics and experimentation, defining success metrics, and making sound decisions even with incomplete data.
  • Strong cross-functional collaborator with experience in sales-assisted and/or PLG environments, and deep partnership with Sales, RevOps, and Marketing.
  • Experience building 0→1 products as well as iterating and scaling mature product portfolios.
  • Success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from ideation through launch and iteration.
  • Comfort with technical products and/or a background in computer science or related fields.
  • High bar for product quality and user experience, with strong product intuition and the ability to break down ambiguous problems into clear, actionable plans.
  • Empathetic people leader and coach, known for improving team effectiveness, cohesion, and satisfaction.
  • Excellent storytelling and advocacy skills, using clear frameworks and first-principles reasoning to align stakeholders and influence outcomes.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in high-growth or late-stage B2B SaaS environments.
  • Background in highly regulated domains (e.g., fintech, healthcare, or similar) is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with SQL, data exploration, and product analytics tools such as Amplitude or Heap, along with feature flagging and experimentation platforms.
  • Understanding of CRM, RevOps, and Marketing systems, including tools like Salesforce and Customer.io.
