Area Director of Sales / Vice President of Sales
Location: Indianapolis, IN / Regional Portfolio Oversight — open to relocation
Salary: $110K–$150K + bonus
A growing multi-property hotel ownership group is seeking an experienced Area Director of Sales / Vice President of Sales to lead sales strategy across its hotel portfolio.
Marriott experience is strongly preferred and should be front and center. The ideal candidate will understand Marriott sales systems, brand standards, RFP process, account management, revenue strategy, and how to drive performance across branded hotel assets.
This role is ideal for a senior hotel sales leader who can build structure, create accountability, coach property-level teams, and partner directly with ownership and General Managers to improve topline performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead portfolio-wide sales strategy across multiple hotel properties
• Drive revenue across group, corporate, negotiated, transient, extended-stay, and local accounts
• Partner with General Managers and revenue management on pricing, pace, segmentation, and demand strategy
• Build annual sales plans, account targets, and market strategies by property
• Coach property-level sales teams on prospecting, activity, production, conversion, and account penetration
• Strengthen Marriott-related sales processes, brand platform usage, account visibility, and market strategy
• Develop key relationships with corporate clients, brand partners, CVBs, tourism partners, and local business leaders
• Review STR reports, pace reports, sales activity, RFPs, account production, and market trends
• Conduct regular property visits, sales audits, strategy meetings, and performance reviews
• Support hotel openings, transitions, ramp-ups, and brand-related sales initiatives
Qualifications
• Marriott hotel sales experience
• Hotel sales leadership experience required
• Multi-property, area, regional, or portfolio sales experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of STR, pace, segmentation, account production, and local market sales
• Proven ability to drive topline revenue across multiple properties
• Ability to coach, develop, and hold property-level sales teams accountable
• Comfortable working directly with ownership, GMs, and senior leadership
• Strategic, hands-on, organized, and willing to travel between properties
Ideal Candidate
The right candidate is a proactive hotel sales leader with strong Marriott experience who can move comfortably between portfolio-level strategy and property-level execution. This person should be able to build sales structure, open doors with key accounts, improve team accountability, and create measurable revenue impact across a growing hotel portfolio.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $110K–$150K, based on experience
