Put your diesel and heavy equipment repair skills to work supporting mulch, soil, composting, and material-handling operations. We’re looking for an experienced mechanic to diagnose, maintain, and repair trucks and equipment in the shop and at multiple operating sites.

You’ll work on a varied fleet—including heavy trucks, trailers, grinders, loaders, excavators, screens, and conveyors—with a focus on keeping equipment safe, reliable, and productive.

What You’ll Do

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, electrical and electronic control systems (ECM), diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, brakes, steering, and suspension.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and scheduled repairs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Complete shop and field repairs across multiple locations, including road calls and emergency service as needed.
  • Inspect, assemble, replace, and route hydraulic hoses and fittings; test equipment to confirm repairs.
  • Perform welding, cutting, and light fabrication to repair or modify components.
  • Use service manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical bulletins to troubleshoot problems and complete repairs.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, inspection reports, maintenance records, and parts usage.
  • Coordinate with operators, managers, vendors, and parts suppliers on equipment condition, repair progress, and service needs.
  • Follow company safety policies, environmental requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures while keeping your work area clean and organized.
  • Provide equipment operators with guidance on proper use and care as needed.

What You’ll Bring

  • At least 3 years of diesel or heavy equipment mechanic experience, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
  • Strong diagnostic and repair skills with electrical, ECM, and DEF systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic systems and assembling hoses and fittings.
  • Welding and light fabrication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Confidence performing field repairs on large equipment and trucks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to safety, and the ability to prioritize repairs that affect operations.
  • Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operators, managers, and vendors.
  • A valid Class A CDL, required to operate the service truck.
  • Your own tools suitable for diesel and heavy equipment repair.

Experience in construction, mining, recycling, industrial production, or a similar environment is preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This position involves hands-on work in active production yards, shops, and outdoor locations. You must be able to:

  • Regularly stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and reach.
  • Frequently climb onto and off heavy equipment.
  • Regularly lift and carry 50–75 pounds.
  • Work around dust, noise, moving machinery, and heavy truck traffic in varying weather conditions.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment and follow safe work practices.

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as operational needs change.
