Journeyman / Red Seal Automotive Technician

Location: Longlac, Ontario

Pay: $35–$55/hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Schedule: 14 Days On / 14 Days Off – Day Shift (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM)

The Opportunity

Looking for a change of pace without giving up the kind of hands-on work you enjoy? This is an opportunity for an experienced Automotive Technician to join a busy shop in Longlac, supporting a mining operation and keeping its fleet of pickup trucks and passenger vehicles on the road.

The biggest draw? A 14-on/14-off rotation. Work two weeks, then enjoy two full weeks off. It's a great setup for someone who wants a different work-life balance without sacrificing a steady hourly wage.

This is a shop-based role working on F-150s, F-250s and other passenger and support vehicles. You'll handle everything from troubleshooting and electrical diagnostics to general repairs, drivability issues and component replacement. The shop is equipped with professional scan tools and diagnostic equipment, so you'll have what you need to get into the work and get the job done.

You'll need to be comfortable working independently, especially on weekends when you'll be the technician on site. We're looking for someone who knows their way around a shop, can diagnose problems without someone looking over their shoulder, and takes pride in doing the job right.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and drivability issues on light-duty trucks and passenger vehicles.
  • Work on Ford F-150s, F-250s and a variety of fleet support vehicles.
  • Perform brake, suspension, steering, engine, cooling system and general mechanical repairs.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults and use scan tools to identify and resolve issues.
  • Perform component replacement (no internal engine or transmission rebuilding).
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and inspections to keep vehicles safe and road-ready.
  • Work independently and manage repairs, particularly during weekend shifts.
  • Keep your work area clean and maintain a safe, organized shop.

What We're Looking For

  • 310S Automotive Service Technician licence or Red Seal endorsement.
  • Experienced senior apprentices will also be considered.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfortable working on light-duty trucks and passenger vehicles.
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of repairs.
  • Own hand tools required.
  • A DZ licence is an asset, particularly for moving and towing vehicles, but isn't required.

What's In It For You?

  • $35–$55/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Hourly pay – no flat rate or flag-hour system.
  • 14 days on / 14 days off rotation.
  • Day shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
  • Accommodations provided in a camp-style shop house, with your own private, lockable room.
  • Meal plan provided while staying on site.
  • Transportation available between accommodations and the shop.
  • Mileage reimbursement.
  • RRSP matching.
  • Dental, extended health and vision care.
  • Life and disability insurance.
  • Paid time off.

The Schedule & Overtime

You'll work a 14-day rotation followed by 14 consecutive days off. Scheduled hours are paid at your regular hourly rate. Overtime applies to hours worked beyond your scheduled rotation hours, as well as any hours worked beyond 12 in a day. Additional days worked outside your scheduled rotation are paid at overtime rates.

Interested?

If you're a licensed Automotive Technician who enjoys diagnosing, fixing and keeping vehicles on the road, this could be a great opportunity to put your experience to work while enjoying two full weeks off every rotation.
