Pay: $31.00 – $38.75 per hour (based on experience) + benefits &401K
About the Role
A large industrial facility is seeking an experienced Power Distribution Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and support medium to high voltage electrical systems, including switchgear, breakers, transformers, underground cabling, and control systems. This role is ideal for a technician with strong electrical expertise, advanced troubleshooting abilities, and experience working with industrial power systems, SCADA, protective relays, and NETA testing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all work safely and in compliance with electrical and industrial safety standards.
- Install, operate, maintain, modify, and repair high and medium voltage power distribution equipment.
- Conduct medium voltage isolation, switching, and manual grounding up to 6.9kV.
- Troubleshoot and repair switchgear, breakers, transformers, underground cables, and distribution controls.
- Perform preventive maintenance, including infrared fault detection surveys and equipment testing.
- Work with SCADA systems, PLC-controlled equipment, instrumentation, and protective relays.
- Apply Root Cause Analysis to diagnose failures and prevent recurrence.
- Maintain drawings, specifications, test logs, and calibration documentation.
- Research equipment manuals and requisition repair parts.
- Train, mentor, and support other maintenance personnel as needed.
- Complete all required reporting and documentation accurately.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- 4+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial or high-voltage electrical environment.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong working knowledge of switchgear, breakers, transformers, and power distribution.
- Familiarity with NETA electrical testing standards.
- Ability to troubleshoot SCADA systems, instrumentation, protective relays, and electrical control equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong understanding of tools, repair methods, and electrical safety.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Basic computer skills for diagnostics and maintenance reporting.
