We are seeking a Working Foreman/Lead Mechanic Technician in Hamilton, Ontario to support a growing, business-to-business construction equipment rental operation. This is a hands-on leadership role for a technician who enjoys solving complex mechanical problems, supporting teammates, and leading by example on the shop floor. This role is not suited for a “parts changer.” The ideal candidate is a strong troubleshooter who stays calm during difficult breakdowns, takes pride in doing repairs properly, and understands that asking for help is a strength—not a weakness.
Location: Hamilton, ON
Schedule: Day Shift, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Monday to Friday). Approx. 47.5 hrs/week. Overtime paid after 44 hours
Pay: $40.00–$45.00/hr (flexible for top talent; potential review/raise after 90 days)
Extended health care benefits and RRSP matching program
What Sets This Role Apart
- Modern, well-maintained rental fleet (no outdated residential equipment)
- Fast-paced but safety-focused operation
- Corporate-level standards with agile, independent decision-making
- Strong emphasis on team culture, attitude, and long-term growth
- Equipment includes aerial lifts and forklifts from leading manufacturers (JLG, Genie, Skyjack)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on aerial lift equipment, forklifts, and construction rental machinery
- Lead complex “hard-down” repairs and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues
- Read and interpret schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and electrical drawings
- Support and guide technicians on repair strategies and best practices
- Balance hands-on work with informal leadership and mentoring
- Ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
- Work collaboratively within a team environment and contribute to continuous improvement
- Maintain a calm, solutions-focused mindset when repairs don’t go as planned
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience as a senior mechanic or lead technician in construction equipment, rental, or heavy equipment environments
- Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot, not just replace components
- Solid knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical diagnostics
- Comfortable reading schematics and technical documentation
- Positive attitude, emotional maturity, and strong communication skills
- Desire for stability, growth, and long-term career development
- Wants to grow with a company that values people, not just productivity
-
Takes pride in doing things right, not just fast
