Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Chatham, VA | $30–$38/hr | Full-Time | Day Shift
Looking for a solid heavy equipment mechanic who knows their way around dozers, excavators, articulated trucks, pans and other dirt-moving iron.
This is a hands-on field role with a company service truck that goes home with you. You’ll spend roughly 80% of your time in the field and 20% in the shop, keeping a large fleet of earthmoving equipment up and running. Most weeks are around 50 hours, Monday–Friday, typically 7:00 AM–5:00 PM.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair heavy earthmoving equipment
- Work on dozers, excavators, articulated trucks, pans and other construction equipment
- Handle field breakdowns, repairs, maintenance and service work
- Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, engine and mechanical issues
- Identify parts needs and help get equipment back in the dirt
- Use diagnostic software and a company laptop to troubleshoot equipment
What You Bring
- 3–5+ years of heavy equipment mechanic experience
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Experience working on construction/earthmoving equipment
- Able to work independently in the field and get the job done
- Your own basic hand tools — specialty tools and anything 3/4" and larger are provided
- CDL is not required
