About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Service Technician / Mechanic to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on truck-mounted utility equipment and medium- and heavy-duty trucks.
This is a hands-on position working on bucket trucks, digger derricks, boom and aerial cranes, dump bodies, service bodies, forestry equipment, and other specialized vocational trucks. You’ll work across truck chassis, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, and suspension.
Our shop regularly works on equipment from manufacturers such as Terex, Versalift, Elliott, Freightliner, and Stellar. If you have a strong mechanical background, enjoy troubleshooting, and take pride in quality work, this could be an excellent long-term opportunity.
What You’ll Do
- Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on truck-mounted utility equipment
- Work on bucket trucks, digger derricks, boom and aerial cranes, dump trucks, service trucks, forestry equipment, and related vocational equipment
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, drivetrains, chassis components, and suspension systems
- Assess equipment and replace worn, damaged, or failed components
- Perform maintenance and repairs on medium- and heavy-duty trucks
- Troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical issues
- Maintain accurate records of parts, labor, repairs, and services performed
- Complete and submit repair and work orders
- Follow established safety procedures and participate in regular safety meetings
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Assist with additional shop responsibilities as needed
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of experience working on utility equipment, diesel equipment, medium- or heavy-duty trucks, or related equipment
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
- Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems
- Knowledge of drivetrain, chassis, and suspension systems
- Comfortable using computers to document repair activity and maintain accurate service records
- Must have your own mechanic’s tools
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- CDL preferred; candidates must have a CDL or be able and willing to obtain one
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Vocational/technical school, military wheeled mechanic training, or equivalent hands-on experience is an asset
- Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork
- Willingness to continue learning and participate in ongoing technical training
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move equipment, parts, and tools throughout the workday
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
- Comfortable stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling
- Strong manual dexterity
- Ability to work in both indoor shop and outdoor yard environments
- Comfortable working around and operating equipment at various heights, including equipment capable of reaching up to 160 feet
Compensation
$30–$40 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Overtime opportunities are available, with limited Saturdays required as needed.
