Lead Mechanic – Keep the Fleet Running

Jeannette, PA | $38–$40/hr | 1st Shift

Looking for a mechanic who can turn the wrench and take ownership of the shop.

We’re looking for a Lead Mechanic to keep a fleet of backhoes, excavators, mowers, tractors, trucks and other equipment up and running. You’ll be hands-on with repairs while also helping run the day-to-day operation of the shop.

This is a good fit for a mechanic who knows how to diagnose problems, get repairs handled, and keep equipment moving — without needing someone looking over your shoulder.

What You’ll Do

  • Diagnose and repair fleet equipment — hydraulics, brakes, hoses, oil changes, electrical, and general mechanical repairs
  • Work on CAT backhoes, excavators, tractors, trucks, mowers and similar equipment
  • Handle preventive maintenance and keep service records organized
  • Order parts and manage inventory
  • Work with outside vendors on larger repairs, warranty work, and specialized service
  • Coordinate equipment transportation between locations and vendors
  • Provide input on repairs, equipment condition, and maintenance needs
  • Help organize and prioritize the shop’s workload
  • Respond to occasional emergency breakdowns when equipment goes down

The Job

  • You’ll spend most of your time in a 3-bay shop, but this isn’t a sit-behind-the-desk job. Expect to stay hands-on and turn wrenches.
  • About 30–40% travel is involved, including local and occasional overnight trips to other locations. Travel and hotels are paid, and you’ll have a Ford F-450 service truck that can go home with you.
  • The fleet is primarily lighter construction/grounds equipment — think CAT 415/416 backhoes, CAT 304/305 excavators, tractors, pickup trucks, and diesel/gas mowers.
  • Most importantly, the equipment has to work. When something breaks down, you’ll be one of the guys figuring out how to get it back in service.

Schedule & Pay

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
  • $38–$40/hr
  • Paid travel and hotels
  • Service truck provided
  • Occasional emergency breakdown support

Benefits

  • Medical benefits
  • 401(k) with company match
  • 3 weeks PTO
  • Paid holidays

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong mechanical/diesel background
  • Comfortable diagnosing and repairing equipment in the field
  • Experience with hydraulics, brakes, electrical, preventative maintenance, etc.
  • Comfortable working on construction/ag/grounds equipment
  • Able to work independently and make decisions
  • Organized enough to handle parts, vendors, repairs and scheduling
  • Willing to travel periodically and respond to emergency breakdowns

If you’re the mechanic people call when something is broken and needs to get fixed — this is the kind of role where you can take ownership and make the shop your own.
