As the Mechanical Superintendent, you will be responsible for: planning and coordinating the work activities of Foremen and Journeymen from several different trades, such as Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, and Fire Protection; the layout and implementation of varied and complex piping systems as they apply to H.V.A.C., plumbing, fire protection, energy management systems; reviewing and suggesting changes in preliminary building mechanical plans for the design of the mechanical distribution systems; and working with consulting engineers on preparing distribution systems. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Directing and coordinating the layout and implementation of mechanical systems for a variety of projects
- Acquiring all materials/equipment needed to complete the project on time
- Coordinating activities of heating and gas systems with the development of long-term expansion and reconstruction programs
- Preparing cost estimates for changes/alterations in the project scope (i.e. labour, equipment, and materials needed)
- Reviewing architectural plans and schedules to ensure proper installation scheduling and design criteria are met
- Managing cost on projects working with project managers and estimators to ensure project does not exceed budget
- Working with consulting and resident engineers on design and performance issue that arise during the construction project period
- Preparing progress reports and maintain records and perform related work as required
- Supervising the work of others including all subcontractors
- Ensuring quality control of all mechanical work including subcontractors
- Other related duties
JOB SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Red Seal/Journeyman License (i.e. Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, and/or Sprinkler Fitter)
- College/University Degree in Engineering an asset
- Able to create estimates detailing labour, material, and equipment required for future projects and prepare cost estimates
- Previous supervisory/management experience in the Commercial/Industrial plumbing/HVAC/fire protection industry
- Valid Passport
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean abstract
The successfully hired Mechanical Superintendent must pass a pre-employment background check (Criminal, Physical, and References).
SHIFT: Days, 7:30am – 3:30pm (Monday – Friday).
COMPENSATION & COMPANY PERKS:
