Heavy Equipment Technician - Lead Field Mechanic

We have a great new opportunity available for Heavy Equipment Technicians in the Detroit area. It is a Lead Field Mechanic opening operating our well stoked, fully equipped Field Service Truck. We're all about helping out clients within a 60-mile radius of Detroit, Michigan.


What's the gig? Diagnosing and fixing heavy equipment and diesel engines right on the spot. We're talking electrical systems, hydraulics, cylinder repair, undercarriages, engine rebuilds, transmission repairs, and all the usual maintenance stuff. Bonus points if you know your way around heavy trucks.


We're not your average repair shop – we handle everything from demolition to construction to marina equipment. If you're into the outdoors, love some daily variety, and want to ditch the boring shop routine, we want you on our team!


Here's what we need from you:

  • 3-5 years of experience in field diesel equipment and engine repairs
  • Class A License (we can help you get it) or Chauffeur’s License, depending on the truck
  • Your own set of heavy equipment tools (we'll provide the special ones when needed)
  • Ability to read tech diagnostics and fill out reports (modern tech skills are a plus)
  • Good communication skills with the boss and clients
  • Physically fit to handle repairs on the ground or in tight spaces
  • Welding skills (Arc and Gas)
  • Knowledge in cutting and fabrication
  • Daily communication is a must
  • Flexible work schedule, 40-55 hours a week, M-F, starting at 6:30 am


As a Lead Mechanic, you'll be rocking these responsibilities:

  1. Manage your truck and tools, keep track of inventory, and report daily.
  2. Clearly communicate diagnostic findings to the boss for successful repair strategies.
  3. Morning and end-of-day call-ins are a must for daily schedules and updates.
  4. Clean up your debris on the customer's site at the end of each day.

Salary ranges from $30 to $40 per hour based on your skills and experience. And check out these benefits:
