Service Manager

Birmingham, AL | Full-Time | $90,000–$100,000 Base + Performance Bonuses

We are looking for an experienced Service Manager to lead a busy commercial service operation in Birmingham, AL. This is a key leadership position for someone who understands truck, fleet, tire, or diesel service environments and knows how to build accountability, improve technician performance, and keep a fast-paced service department running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the service department
  • Lead, coach, schedule, and support technicians and service personnel
  • Manage shop workflow, repair priorities, and technician assignments
  • Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, quality, and overall performance
  • Ensure customers receive timely, professional, and high-quality service
  • Track department KPIs, labor performance, revenue, and profitability
  • Maintain accountability across the service team and address performance concerns
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and development of technicians
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure parts, equipment, and resources are available
  • Maintain strong safety, compliance, and shop organization standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, customer service, and profitability
  • Support both in-shop and mobile service operations

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Service Manager, Shop Manager, Fleet Maintenance Manager, Service Supervisor, or similar leadership role
  • Experience within a commercial truck, diesel, fleet, tire, heavy equipment, or automotive service environment
  • Proven experience managing technicians and service operations
  • Strong understanding of technician productivity, labor efficiency, scheduling, and workflow
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced service environment and prioritize multiple jobs
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Customer-focused with the ability to handle escalated service concerns
  • Experience with service management, fleet, or shop software is an asset
  • Strong focus on safety, accountability, and operational performance
