Service Manager – Heavy-Duty Truck Dealership
Location: San Leandro, CA
Total Compensation: Approximately $120,000–$200,000 including incentives
Schedule: Approximately 7:00 AM–5:30 PM, with Saturdays as required

We are seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead a busy, fast-paced heavy-duty truck dealership service department in San Leandro, CA.
This is a high-energy operation that requires a strong, experienced dealership leader who can step in, understand the business quickly, and begin driving performance from day one.
The ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with a deep understanding of dealership service operations, technician productivity, reporting, customer satisfaction, and profitability. Technical experience is valuable, but this position is primarily focused on leadership and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day Service Department operations
- Lead, coach, develop, and hold technicians and service personnel accountable
- Manage staffing levels, hiring, training, performance, and technician retention
- Conduct regular meetings with technicians, Service Writers, and service leadership to review workload and repair status
- Monitor technician productivity, proficiency, efficiency, and overall performance
- Review department reports and KPIs and take action based on performance trends
- Maintain efficient repair order flow from initial write-up through completion and closing
- Monitor jobs in progress, hours invested, completion estimates, and potential delays
- Ensure the department maintains appropriate technician training and certifications
- Drive customer satisfaction and build long-term relationships with key accounts
- Address escalated customer concerns professionally and effectively
- Work closely with Parts, Sales, Lease & Rental, Warranty, Credit, and senior leadership
- Support efficient warranty processing and repair order recovery
- Maintain a professional, organized, productive, and safety-focused shop environment
- Develop strategies to improve department revenue, efficiency, productivity, and profitability
- Assist with forecasting and long-term planning for continued department growth
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience within a heavy-duty/Class 8 truck dealership environment
- Direct dealership Service Department experience required
- 3+ years of leadership or management experience
- Previous Service Manager, Assistant Service Manager, Fixed Operations Manager, or comparable dealership leadership experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of technician productivity and service department KPIs
- Experience reviewing operational and financial reports and turning those numbers into action
- Strong understanding of repair order processes, warranty coordination, and customer service
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a busy technician team
- Excellent customer relationship and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to prioritize and delegate effectively in a high-volume environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and dealership management/business systems
What We're Looking For
This position requires someone with strong dealership management experience who can hit the ground running.
You should be comfortable walking into a busy service department, reviewing the reports, understanding where the operation is performing well and where improvements are needed, and developing a plan to move the department forward.
This is also a demanding operation. The typical schedule is approximately 7:00 AM–5:30 PM, and Saturdays are part of the business as needed. We need someone with the energy, leadership presence, and work ethic to thrive in that environment.
