Field Service Millwright / Industrial Mechanic
Surrey, BC | $40–$47/hour + travel premiums | Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
We’re looking for a Journeyman Millwright / Industrial Mechanic who likes getting out in the field, chasing down problems, and working on some serious industrial equipment.
This is a hands-on service role based out of Surrey. When you’re not travelling, you’ll be working throughout the Lower Mainland at manufacturing and industrial plants, handling installs, service, troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs. There is travel throughout BC—including Vancouver Island and Victoria—but typically it’s a few days up to a week at a time, not weeks away from home.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Troubleshoot, service, maintain and repair industrial compressors, dryers and related equipment
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and get equipment back up and running
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs at customer sites
- Install and service compressed air systems and related equipment
- Read drawings, schematics and service information to diagnose problems
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency service calls when required
- Work directly with customers to explain problems, repairs and recommendations
- Complete service reports, work orders and parts returns
- Keep your service truck, tools and equipment organized and ready to go
- Work safely and follow customer site requirements and company procedures
What You Bring
- Journeyman Millwright / Industrial Mechanic certification
- Red Seal is preferred
- Solid industrial maintenance and troubleshooting experience
- Good mechanical skills with a working knowledge of electrical systems
- Comfortable working independently in the field
- Able to read mechanical drawings, schematics and plans
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence and clean driving record
-
Valid passport — travel is part of the job
- Your own basic mechanic's hand tools
- Good customer service skills and the ability to deal with customers professionally
Experience with compressed air systems, compressors, rotating equipment or piping is a strong asset, but it’s not a deal breaker. If you’re a strong industrial mechanic who can troubleshoot equipment and figure things out, the company will train you on their equipment and systems.
The Job
-
$40–$47/hour, depending on experience
- Overnight travel premiums
- Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Plenty of overtime, particularly when travelling
- Company service vehicle provided
- Company pays for all travel, hotels and accommodations
- Benefits package with pension and up to 5% employer match
- Paid training, including opportunities in Montreal, the United States and Germany
- Field work throughout BC, with travel generally lasting a few days to one week at a time
This is a good fit for a mechanic who wants to get out of the same four walls every day, work on different equipment and sites, and build a career with a company that invests in its people.
If you’re a licensed Millwright / Industrial Mechanic who knows how to troubleshoot, turn a wrench and take care of the customer, we’d like to hear from you.
