Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Chesterfield, MI | $30–$42+/hr | Full-Time | Monday–Friday

We’re looking for Heavy Equipment Mechanics / Technicians for both shop or field service work. All experience levels are welcome — whether you’re solid on PMs and oil changes and looking to build your skills, or you’re already comfortable chasing down electrical, hydraulic, engine and drivetrain problems.

What You’ll Be Working On

You’ll work on a mix of construction and heavy equipment, handling everything from routine maintenance to full-on troubleshooting and repair.

  • Preventive maintenance, inspections and scheduled service
  • Engine, powertrain and drivetrain repairs
  • Hydraulic troubleshooting and component replacement
  • Electrical diagnostics and repair
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical problems
  • Remove and install components, attachments and accessories
  • Repair and service equipment in the shop or out in the field
  • Welding and fabrication when needed
  • Test machines after repairs and make sure they’re ready to go back to work
  • Complete service reports and document the work performed

What We’re Looking For

We’re not looking for a piece of paper — we’re looking for someone who can work on equipment and wants to get better at it.

  • Heavy equipment, diesel, automotive, agricultural, industrial or similar mechanical experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Experience with hydraulics, electrical systems and diagnostics is a plus
  • Entry-level techs with solid mechanical fundamentals are welcome
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools
  • Professional tool set
  • Valid driver’s license
  • CDL is a plus, not a requirement
  • Able to work safely around large equipment and moving machinery
  • Dependable, takes pride in their work and doesn’t cut corners

Shop or Field — Your Choice of Work Style

  • Field techs spend their time keeping customers' equipment running and can come into the shop when field work slows down.
  • The service trucks do not require a CDL. If you already have one, there are CDL trucks available.

Schedule & Pay

  • Monday–Friday
  • 7:30 AM–5:00 PM
  • Typically 45–50 hours/week
  • Some Saturdays when needed, but they’re rare and generally avoided
  • $30–$42+/hr plus benefits package and 401K
  • Flexible for the right technician

Why Make the Move?

  • You’ll have the chance to work on real equipment, build your skill set and take on more challenging work as you develop. The team is open to technicians at different points in their careers and will invest in training the right person.
  • If you’re already a strong diagnostic tech, there’s room to put those skills to work. If you’re a good mechanic looking to step into heavy equipment, there’s room to learn.
  • If you know how to turn a wrench, troubleshoot a problem and take pride in fixing it right, let’s talk.
