We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Calgary team and play a key role in maintaining a fleet of specialized deicing trucks, heavy-duty vehicles, and support equipment used in airport operations.

Position Summary
The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance of heavy-duty diesel trucks, deicing units, service vehicles, and support equipment. This position ensures all equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational year-round.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty diesel trucks, deicing units, and support equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Conduct inspections to identify equipment deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Repair and replace engines, transmissions, driveline components, braking systems, and hydraulic systems as required.
- Complete work orders, maintenance records, and inspection reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Collaborate with operations and management teams to minimize equipment downtime.
- Participate in seasonal equipment readiness and emergency response programs.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and airport regulations.
Qualifications
Required
- Journeyman certification in Heavy Equipment Technician, Truck & Transport Technician, Automotive Service Technician, Agricultural Equipment Technician, or equivalent trade.
- 2–5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy-duty diesel equipment.
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience working with hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic systems.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance.
Preferred
- Experience working on Freightliner, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, or similar heavy-duty equipment.
- Familiarity with diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting tools.
- Previous experience with snow removal equipment, municipal fleets, aviation ground support equipment, or other specialized vehicles.
- Class 1/AZ license considered an asset.
