Parts Specialist

Livonia, MI | $20–$30/hr | Full-Time | Monday–Friday Day Shift

If you’ve worked a parts counter, you know the job isn’t just looking up a part number and handing over a box. You need to know what you’re looking at, ask the right questions, track down the right part, and keep the techs and customers moving.

We’re looking for a Parts Specialist to join a busy heavy equipment parts department in Livonia. This is a good fit for someone with auto, truck, heavy equipment or industrial parts experience who knows their way around a parts counter and likes staying busy.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be the link between the parts department, technicians, customers and vendors — making sure the right parts get where they need to go.

  • Work the parts counter and assist customers and technicians with parts needs
  • Look up and identify the correct parts using parts books, catalogs and online systems
  • Take parts orders, enter them into the system and follow them through
  • Source and order parts from vendors when they aren’t on the shelf
  • Handle incoming shipments — receive, check, unpack and put away parts
  • Pick and prepare parts for delivery and verify orders before they go out
  • Keep the parts counter, shelves and inventory organized
  • Manage the internal parts window for technicians and shop staff
  • Help with inventory counts and maintain accurate stock
  • Answer phones and help customers get what they need without wasting time

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be a mechanic, but you do need to understand parts and how they fit into the equipment.

  • Parts counter, parts department or inventory experience preferred
  • Auto, truck, heavy equipment, agricultural or industrial parts experience is a plus
  • Basic mechanical knowledge — you can look at a component and know what you’re dealing with
  • Comfortable working with parts catalogs, vendor websites and inventory systems
  • Basic computer skills — Outlook, Excel and similar programs
  • Good phone and customer service skills
  • Organized and able to keep track of multiple orders at once
  • Comfortable working around a busy shop and moving equipment
  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • Able to lift and move parts and packages, including items weighing 50–100+ lbs when needed

The Environment

  • You’ll be working directly with technicians who need parts to get machines back in the dirt, along with customers who need to keep their equipment working.
  • Some days are steady. Some days the phone won’t stop and three techs need parts at the same time. We need someone who can stay organized, move with a sense of urgency and still get the part number right.

Schedule & Pay

  • Monday–Friday. 7:30 AM–5:00 PM
  • Full-time
  • Overtime when needed
  • $20–$30/hr depending on experience

What’s Included

  • Medical, dental and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off. Paid holidays
  • Training and ongoing development
  • Stable, established operation with room to grow

If you’ve got parts counter experience, understand the difference between “close enough” and the right part, and like being the person the shop can count on when they need something tracked down, we’d like to talk to you.
