Lead Service Technician / Working Foreman

Location: Bakersfield, CA

Pay: $40.00–$65.00 per hour + performance incentives

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–5:30 PM

Shift: Day Shift

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Service Technician / Working Foreman to join a large, established heavy-duty truck service facility in Bakersfield, CA.

This is a true hands-on leadership position. You’ll work alongside a team of approximately 11 technicians, serving as a technical resource while continuing to turn wrenches yourself.

We’re looking for someone who can diagnose difficult problems, develop repair strategies, mentor other technicians, and help keep the shop running efficiently.

Compensation & Incentives

  • $40.00–$65.00 per hour
  • Performance and efficiency incentive opportunities
  • Technician bonus program paid every other week
  • Qualified technicians are averaging approximately $350 in additional incentive pay every two weeks
  • Monday–Friday day shift

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Class 8 trucks
  • Remain actively hands-on while providing technical leadership to the shop
  • Assist technicians with complex diagnostic and repair issues
  • Develop repair strategies and help prioritize work
  • Troubleshoot engines, electrical, emissions, and aftertreatment systems
  • Perform brakes, clutches, preventative maintenance, and general heavy-duty repairs
  • Mentor and support technicians at varying skill levels
  • Help improve technician efficiency, productivity, and repair quality
  • Minimize comebacks by ensuring repairs are completed correctly the first time
  • Assist Service Management and Service Writers with repair planning and estimates
  • Maintain accurate repair documentation
  • Participate in ongoing technical training
  • Promote a safe, organized, and productive shop environment

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of heavy-duty diesel truck or equipment repair experience
  • Strong Class 8 truck experience
  • Previous Lead Technician, Working Foreman, Shop Foreman, or senior-level technician experience preferred
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience with electrical and aftertreatment systems
  • Experience with major Class 8 truck brands is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of brakes, clutches, preventative maintenance, and general truck repair
  • Ability to mentor and develop other technicians
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Must have appropriate hand and air tools
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • CDL is an asset

What We're Looking For

You don't need experience with one specific truck manufacturer to be considered. We're looking for a strong heavy-duty technician with transferable Class 8 experience, excellent diagnostic abilities, and the confidence to help lead other technicians.

The ideal candidate is the person other mechanics naturally turn to when they run into a difficult problem — someone who can diagnose the issue, guide the repair, teach others, and still enjoys being on the floor turning wrenches.
