Red Seal Journeyman Off-Road / Heavy Equipment Mechanic


Location: Hinton, AB | Full-Time | Monday to Friday


We are looking for a skilled Red Seal Journeyman Off-Road / Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our Hinton, Alberta team. This is a full-time role offering competitive pay, excellent benefits, and strong opportunities for career growth.


What You’ll Do

  • Perform preventative maintenance and major repairs on a wide range of heavy-duty and off-road equipment
  • Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, electrical systems, hydraulics, fuel systems, and undercarriage components
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and adjust equipment to meet safety, compliance, and performance standards
  • Carry out routine services including lubrication, hose and battery repairs, and component replacements
  • Use diagnostic software, precision measuring instruments, and specialized shop tools
  • Prepare service reports, work orders, and repair documentation within the fleet management system
  • Provide repair estimates and assist with customer equipment assessments
  • Rebuild, recondition, or replace worn and damaged parts as needed
  • Support shop operations and field service calls (when required)
  • Mentor apprentices and contribute to the training and development of junior team members
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment at all times


Qualifications

  • Red Seal Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician (or equivalent provincial certification)
  • Minimum 3 years’ hands-on experience working with heavy equipment (construction, forestry, mining, or related industries)
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with a customer-first mindset
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (clean driver’s abstract required)
