Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for boilers and process vessels, ensuring compliance with Technical Safety BC regulations.
- Oversee the safe and reliable operation of facility utilities systems, including boilers, chillers, air handling units (AHUs), water systems, compressed air, and clean gases; respond to BMS alarms as required.
- Execute and manage routine maintenance and planned/unplanned repair activities through the CMMS system.
- Lead utilities shutdown and restart activities during major maintenance or power outages in accordance with safety and GMP requirements.
- Provide technical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for utilities systems interfacing with manufacturing and quality control equipment.
- Recommend and implement operational improvements for utilities and base-building systems.
- Mentor and develop utility technicians to ensure safe, compliant, and effective operations.
- Participate in shift coverage as required to support business continuity and minimize facility downtime.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing plant operations (steam plant, maintenance, quality, safety, or environmental compliance) or similar regulated industry.
- Valid Technical Safety BC Class V Power Engineering Certificate (or higher).
- Strong experience operating base utilities systems (boilers, chillers, AHUs, compressed gases); hands-on experience with GMP clean utilities is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to perform and oversee maintenance and repair activities.
- Proven operational mindset with strong risk assessment and problem-solving capabilities to prevent process downtime.
- Proactive, innovative, and collaborative professional capable of contributing to a high-performing technical team.
Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: CAD $80,000 – $95,000 annually, commensurate with education, skills, and relevant experience
