About the company:


Our client is a small, privately held forestry and manufacturing company with operations in Chilliwack, British Columbia. It operates a sawmill/wood processing facility that produces and handles lumber and related wood products, serving customers across Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. The company focuses on wood manufacturing, material handling, and milling operations, with a hands-on production environment.


Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor industrial moulding machinery to produce components in accordance with schematics and production specifications
  • Perform knife changes, machine setups, and precision adjustments to optimize performance and output quality
  • Inspect finished products to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to quality standards
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, tooling, and material issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow
  • Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs to ensure safe and efficient machine operation
  • Accurately document production data, including machine settings, measurements, quality checks, and downtime
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a safe, compliant work environment
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and leadership teams to improve processes and operational efficiency
  • Train and mentor junior operators, sharing best practices and supporting skill development across the team
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in workflow, quality, and machine utilization


Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating moulding machinery in a sawmill or woodworking environment
  • Strong ability to read and interpret schematics, profiles, and technical drawings
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement equipment
  • Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a production setting
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and accuracy
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and standing for extended periods
  • Strong understanding of safety standards and best practices in manufacturing environments
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills


Assets:

  • Experience operating Weinig and/or Leadermac moulding machines
  • Machinist experience, including CNC operation, tooling setup, and fabrication
  • Experience training, mentoring, or coaching team members
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and support team performance
