About the client:


Our client is a premier metal fabrication company specializing in custom design and high-end products tailored specifically for residential developments in the Metro Vancouver area.


They are currently seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee their manufacturing activities, lead a well-established team, implement operational processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives.


This role will be part of the senior management team and offers a unique opportunity to learn from industry experts, explore innovative design solutions, and play a significant role in shaping the future of the company.


Responsibilities:


 Production Planning & Scheduling


·        Manage the full fabrication workflow from completed design through fabrication and finishing.

·        Maintain and oversee the production schedule, ensuring minimal delays and consistent workflow.

·        Oversee the scheduling of fabrication projects and coordinate with design leads to ensure all logistics are addressed prior to fabrication.

·        Ensure the waterjet schedule and available parts support continuous workflow.

 

Shop Floor Leadership & Employee Management


·        Direct and oversee the work of fabricators and operators.

·        Conduct 1‑to‑1 meetings with all production staff.

·        Provide ongoing performance feedback, including during probationary periods for new employees.

·        Engage with the team to problem‑solve and support fabrication challenges.

·        Coordinate employee training on machines, equipment, and tools.

·        Participate in hiring and develop onboarding plans for new employees.

 

Time, Attendance & Job Tracking


·        Manage Time & Attendance for all production staff.

·        Manage Time to Job and Material Usage, ensuring accurate tracking of labor and materials allocated to each project.

·        Analyze operational and employee data to support management reporting.

 

Workflow Optimization & Continuous Improvement


·        Ensure consistent workflow across all fabrication processes.

·        Identify workflow barriers and recommend solutions.

·        Recommend and implement efficiencies in production systems, operational processes, and employee work practices.

·        Identify and formalize quality control measures and inspections.

·        Recommend equipment, machinery, or tools that improve workflow efficiency.

 

Inventory & Material Management


·        Organize and maintain inventory levels of raw materials and finished products.

·        Maintain inventory to support continuous workflow.

·        Make inventory recommendations to the Operations Manager.

·        Assist in implementing inventory management software and developing inventory budgets.

·        Ensure materials are available and properly allocated to jobs.

 

Equipment, Maintenance & Safety


·        Coordinate repair and maintenance of machines, equipment, consumables, and tools.

·        Ensure all equipment is safe and in optimal working condition.

·        Develop and coordinate maintenance schedules.

·        Ensure employee actions and operational processes adhere to required safety practices.

 

Reporting & Policy Development


·        Prepare management reporting based on operational and employee data.

·        Recommend operational and company policies to improve efficiency and employee engagement.

·        Stay current with industry trends, risks, and opportunities.

·        Identify professional development and technical training opportunities for employees.

 

Qualifications:


Required


·        3–5 years of experience as a Production or Operations Manager in manufacturing or production.

·        Supervisory experience managing production teams.

·        Strong understanding of manufacturing systems and processes.

·        Working knowledge of metal/wood materials, equipment, machinery, and tools.

·        Ability to read engineered/architectural drawings and understand design principles.

·        Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively.

·        Computer literacy with strong command of office software.

·        Knowledge of safety practices in a manufacturing environment.

·        Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to multi‑task.

·        Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Nice to have



·        Experience with project management or inventory software.

·        Experience in quality control, continuous improvement, or data analysis.

·        Education in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Design, or related fields.

·        Drafting education, certification, or experience.

·        Technical certifications in manufacturing, production, or equipment.

·        Project Management certification.

 

Compensation:


·        $120,000-140,000 annual base salary.

·        Annual bonus.
