About Our Client:

Our client is a full-scope contractor specializing in drilling/blasting and related services. We are looking for a Controller to join their team. This role will be based at the client’s office in Chilliwack, for a minimum of 4 days a week.  

Reporting to the Corporate Controller who acts as the COO of all things administration, the Controller manages day-to-day financial operations as well as management of a team of 7 that includes accountants and clerks, providing financial control of two separate businesses.


This person will oversee their financial operations and ensure the integrity of financial reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the accounting department, developing budgets, and implementing effective financial strategies. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as proficiency in various accounting software. The Corporate Controller will play a crucial role in supporting the organization's financial health and strategic goals.


We are looking for candidates in construction, agriculture or manufacturing who can work out of an office in Chilliwack.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and account reconciliation.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to support organizational objectives.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and reports for management review.
  • Management of intercompany transactions and oversee monthly and quarterly closeouts.
  • Conduct account analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights that drive decision-making.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure smooth audits and compliance.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Utilize accounting software such as Sage, Power BI or similar tools to streamline processes.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA).
  • Proven experience as a Corporate Controller or similar role in a corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting processes and financial analysis techniques.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience managing a team of accounting professionals.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Able to work out of an office in Chilliwack.
  • Experience working in the construction, agriculture, or manufacturing industries is required.
  • Experience with process analysis and improvement to enhance operational efficiency and drive continuous growth.
  • Superior attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and clarity in all financial reporting and operations.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, with advanced knowledge of accounting systems.
  • Adept at managing conflicting priorities and tight deadlines while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy.
