Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure production targets, efficiency goals, and on-time delivery commitments are achieved.
  • Manage production schedules, workflows, and labour allocation to maximize productivity and minimize downtime or bottlenecks.
  • Maintain a strong shop floor presence, providing hands-on leadership, direction, and problem-solving support to production teams.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality management systems (QMS/ISO).
  • Monitor production performance, labour utilization, costs, and operational KPIs; prepare regular reports for senior leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, process optimization, and cost savings.
  • Lead daily production meetings and coordinate closely with Sales, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Materials, HR, and other departments.
  • Oversee in-process quality controls, investigate production issues, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence of defects.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs, training programs, and production procedures to ensure consistency and operational excellence.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop production staff while fostering accountability, teamwork, and a positive safety culture.
  • Manage staffing levels, overtime scheduling, performance management, and employee relations in partnership with HR.
  • Ensure plant operations meet all applicable workplace safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support weekend or after-hours operations as required by business needs.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related discipline; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial operations.
  • Experience in metal parts manufacturing, machining, or a similar industrial environment preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of CNC machines, production equipment, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, manage performance, and drive results.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems, ISO standards, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems quickly, make sound decisions, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong financial and operational acumen with experience managing budgets, labour efficiency, and production costs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and production reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
