Qualifications

  • Technician/Technologist certification or Bachelor's degree in a related field or two-year diploma in automation technology with:
  • 3+ years of relevant experience for Technicians/Technologists
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in PLC programming
  • Proven expertise in commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting of control systems
  • Hands-on experience in wiring, testing, and commissioning of equipment for:
  • Fully assembled machines
  • Parts orders and custom devices
  • Proficiency working with Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Mitsubishi systems, including:
  • PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities; resourceful and proactive
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-directed, goal-driven, and accountable
  • Collaborative mindset with strong teamwork abilities
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% (domestically and internationally)
  • Background in mineral processing equipment, metallurgical testing, or process consulting
  • Red Seal Electrician certification (for Engineer roles)
  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly Industrious


Responsibilities

  • Wire and test machines in the workshop
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC/HMI programs
  • Collaborate with technical writers to create or enhance user manuals and documentation
  • Provide timely and professional customer support by:
  • Reviewing client technical requirements
  • Designing and estimating control system upgrades
  • Review and verify accuracy of:
  • Electrical, control, and instrumentation systems
  • P&ID drawings, loop diagrams, and wiring schematics
  • Maintain effective communication with vendors regarding:
  • Timelines, testing, readiness, and delivery
  • Develop innovative solutions to complex technical challenges
  • Design, configure, and program PLC/HMI applications
  • Prepare and evaluate tender and construction packages, including:
  • Electrical and instrumentation drawings
  • Installation specifications
  • (In the Future) Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, technologists, and drafting staff
