About Our Client:

Our client is a well-established multi-disciplinary engineering and design firm. They are seeking a Junior Mechanical Technologist to join their dynamic team. With a strong portfolio of 100's of completed projects across residential, commercial, and light industrial sectors, the firm is recognized for delivering energy-efficient, cost-effective, and maintainable mechanical systems.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented drafter who is passionate about mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. The successful candidate will support senior engineering staff in drafting, coordination, and documentation of building systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in drafting and design of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
• Prepare contract documents including drawings, schematics, schedules, and details from concept through construction.
• Utilize Revit MEP and AutoCAD to produce accurate mechanical designs.
• Coordinate mechanical systems with other disciplines to ensure seamless integration.
• Conduct field surveys and site reviews, and assist in preparation of record drawings.
• Maintain quality control and adherence to internal design standards.
• Support project managers and senior staff to meet timelines and quality objectives.
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in workflows and design processes.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Experience producing HVAC and plumbing drawings.
• Proficient in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Revit is required.
• Solid understanding of mechanical systems and building code requirements.
• Familiarity with NFPA, NECB, ASHRAE, and local building/plumbing codes is an asset.
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and electrical drawings.
• Experience with LEED standards and energy modeling software is considered an asset.
