About the client:

Our client is a leading importer and distributor of high-quality architectural building products serving the Pacific Northwest. They partner with dealers, designers, and architects to deliver inspired surfaces for residential and commercial projects alike.

They are currently looking for a General Manager who will be based at their Tukwila, WA office. The GM will be responsible for leading the development and execution of the company’s long-term strategy with a view to creating shareholder/investor value. The GM’s leadership role entails being ultimately responsible for the day-to-day operational and management decisions of the company and for implementing it’s long- and short-term plans, as well as directly accountable as a direct liaison between ownership and management of the company and responsible for its financial results.


Responsibilities:

  • Identify new and/or emerging business opportunities within the residential and commercial construction/renovation sector in the US market that will drive revenue growth and profitability to the company
  • Liaise with company leadership to develop and execute on a profitable business strategy for the company, while ensuring business risks are identified, managed, and acted upon in an appropriate manner
  • Using skills, experience, existing relationships, and intellectual capital to define appropriate solutions, the new GM will identify, evaluate, and select solutions and offerings which best meet the client's business needs
  • Build and manage a capable sales and operational team, including the hiring, coaching, and training as necessary to ensure a high-performance team within each local branch
  • Lead by example to build solid client relationships, drive sales and promote best practices to deliver results, and to abide by specific internally established control systems and authorities, to lead by personal example and encourage all employees to conduct their activities lawfully and ethically in accordance with all applicable laws and the company’s standards and policies, including its environmental, safety and health policies
  • Responsible for establishing proper processes and practices within the sales team to ensure every possible business development opportunity is identified, reviewed, and acted upon in a thorough and timely manner
  • Keep up to date on market trends to effectively lead the team and assist the company with new product selections as required
  • Foster ongoing improvement of production efficiency, internal controls, documentation, and service delivery to ensure full compliance with client requirements
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with appropriate level client operating key personnel


Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience (8+ years) in operations, sales, or general management — ideally within the building materials industry.
  • Strong ability to develop and implement business strategies that drive growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and motivating cross-functional teams, fostering accountability, and building a positive company culture.
  • Solid background in P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, and operational efficiency.
  • Experience with sales and business development, including supporting dealer networks, distributors, and design trade professionals.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on, collaborative management style and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain, inventory, and logistics processes within a distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP and CRM systems; tech-savvy and comfortable with reporting and analytics tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field (MBA or equivalent experience preferred).


Compensation:

  • USD $125,000-135,000 per annum Base Salary (entirely negotiable depending on candidate’s experience)
