Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Controller to manage and guide our accounting function, including a team of 3 to 4 professionals. This high-impact role requires strong leadership, a strategic mindset, and experience in complex, international financial environments. The ideal candidate will bring Canadian tax knowledge, multi-currency proficiency, and a deep understanding of import/export operations. Proficiency in SAP Business One is essential.
Objectives of this Role:
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing accounting team of 3–4 staff
- Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior leadership through analysis and reporting of key data points
- Support strategic decision-making in collaboration with the VP of Finance and Operations
- Guide and maintain robust financial controls and reporting standards across international operations
- Improve budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes to support scalable growth
- Oversee Canadian tax compliance and international financial transactions
- Optimize SAP Business One for reporting, accuracy, and efficiency
- Develop and maintain sales and operational performance analysis
Key Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee general ledger, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and financial reporting systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and international regulations
- Monitor and report on financial health, performance trends, and variances against budget
- Implement and enforce internal controls that protect company assets and promote accuracy and integrity

Lead tax planning and compliance activities, with a focus on Canadian corporate tax

Ensure accuracy in multi-currency accounting and foreign exchange processes
- Coordinate import/export finance activities involving cross-border transactions
- Develop benchmarks and KPIs for operations and financial goals; report performance monthly, quarterly, and annually
- Manage credit controls and accounts receivable aging with strategic oversight
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics from a financial perspective
Required Skills and Qualifications:

10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role

CPA designation required

Proven experience in international operations including import/export logistics and multi-currency accounting
- Advanced knowledge of Canadian tax laws and financial reporting requirements
- Strong analytical, organizational, and strategic thinking skills
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal abilities

Proficient in SAP Business One and Microsoft Office Suite

Experience in manufacturing, production, or warehouse distribution environments
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to process improvement and operational excellence
