Reporting to the Controller, you will be responsible for core general ledger functions, financial reporting, audit support, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data across multiple entities and currencies. This position is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a desire to further develop their technical accounting expertise within a collaborative, high-performing finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute full-cycle month-end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries, reviewing general ledger transactions, and ensuring accuracy across key accounts.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules; analyze variances and provide insights on trends and fluctuations.
- Reconcile complex balance sheet accounts, including inventory, fixed assets, deferred revenue, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, GRNI, and intercompany accounts across multiple currencies.
- Support payroll accounting by reviewing journal entries, reconciling related accounts, and ensuring payroll-related transactions are accurately recorded.
- Prepare audit working papers and support quarterly reviews and annual audits; respond to auditor requests as needed.
- Assist with indirect tax filings (GST/PST/HST, VAT, and U.S. sales tax) and ensure timely compliance with statutory requirements.
- Prepare and review sales reporting, including reconciliations, commission calculations, and adjustments.
- Monitor inventory transactions and collaborate with operations to ensure accuracy in costing, COGS, freight allocations, and goods-in-transit.
- Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and internal controls to strengthen financial reporting and operational efficiency.
- Review reconciliations prepared by junior team members and provide guidance as needed.
- Maintain working knowledge of accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
Qualifications & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Must have a CPA designation.
- 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of full-cycle accounting processes.
- Experience in multi-entity and multi-currency environments, with strong financial statement preparation skills.
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., data analysis, macros, or business intelligence tools such as Power BI).
- Experience with ERP systems; exposure to mid-market ERP platforms is preferred.
- Background in manufacturing, distribution, or a multi-entity environment is considered an asset.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary: $90,000 – $100,000
