Position Overview:
The Sales Engineer will develop and convert a strong pipeline of opportunities within the mining market, with a specific focus on flotation and magnetic separation technologies. This role combines technical solution selling, territory management, and customer relationship development across British Columbia.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Build, manage, and convert a qualified sales pipeline to achieve regional growth targets.
- Drive solution-based sales to end users, OEMs, and EPCs through technical consultations and relationship management.
- Prepare, deliver, and present technical and commercial proposals, quotations, and product presentations.
- Maintain consistent customer engagement, targeting 50% direct customer face-time as aligned with KPIs.
- Negotiate commercial terms and oversee full sales cycle from proposal through to contract execution.
- Manage territory planning, key accounts, and travel schedules (~50% travel required).
Client & Project Support
- Serve as a technical resource, assisting clients in resolving application and equipment challenges.
- Support and coordinate with representative agents within the BC territory.
- Champion awarded projects internally from concept through delivery, transitioning to Engineering/Project Management post-award and ensuring smooth client handover.
- Provide ongoing follow-ups on project status and ensure alignment on expectations and outcomes.
Market & Strategic Activities
- Identify and pursue new opportunities in mining and mineral processing markets.
- Stay current on competitive landscape, technology advancements, and market conditions.
- Participate in industry events, trade shows, and conferences to represent the organization and generate leads.
Reporting & Internal Collaboration
- Maintain accurate and timely updates on all opportunities, activities, and client interactions in CRM.
- Contribute to regular sales meetings with pipeline summaries, competitor insights, and regional market analysis.
- Provide customer feedback to Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to inform development and positioning.
- Manage workload effectively, meeting timelines, KPIs, and sales targets.
Qualifications:
Education & Technical Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in mining or mineral processing, ideally involving:
- Capital equipment sales and solution integration
- On-site commissioning, training, or field service with mining clients
- Familiarity with flotation and magnetic separation technologies
Sales & Commercial Competencies
- Proven success in technical solution selling and long-term customer relationship development.
- Strong understanding of commercial terms, equipment sales cycles, and proposal/contract negotiation.
- Established network within the mining and metallurgical sector preferred.
Communication & Professional Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including confidence in technical presentations.
- Highly organized, self-driven, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office and CRM platforms.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.
