About the client:
A privately held custom manufacturing company specializing in premium architectural millwork, bespoke interiors, and fine furnishings for luxury residential and commercial projects.
Responsibilities
- Translate architectural concepts, design intent, and client requirements into accurate shop drawings, 3D models, and production-ready documentation for custom millwork projects.
- Interpret architectural and construction drawings while collaborating with project managers, designers, architects, and fabrication teams to ensure technical accuracy and manufacturability.
- Develop and refine parametric CAD models using SolidWorks, SWOOD, and related software for CNC machining, fabrication, and installation.
- Conduct site visits to capture field measurements, verify site conditions, and ensure final designs fit the intended space.
- Identify design conflicts, constructability issues, and functionality risks early in the process; recommend practical solutions and support drawing approvals.
- Determine efficient methods of fabrication, assembly, and installation while contributing to process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare material take-offs for sheet goods, lumber, hardware, and related components to support procurement and production planning.
- Maintain accurate revision control, change history, and project documentation, ensuring scope changes are reflected in updated drawings and change orders.
- Support fabrication and installation teams throughout the project lifecycle by revising drawings, resolving technical issues, and responding to production needs.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and clients to align on timelines, specifications, budgets, and quality expectations.
- Stay current with industry trends, manufacturing methods, materials, and software advancements to enhance design efficiency and product quality.
Qualifications
- Degree, diploma, or technical training in engineering, drafting, woodworking, industrial design, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- 3+ years of experience in cabinetmaking, millwork engineering, or design/drafting within an architectural millwork environment.
- Proven success delivering custom millwork or cabinetry projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Advanced proficiency with parametric CAD software such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360.

Experience with AutoCAD, SWOOD, SpaceClaim, or similar design/manufacturing software is considered an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of technical drawing standards, shop drawing practices, and production documentation.
- Solid understanding of cabinetmaking methods, woodworking materials, hardware, joinery, and fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with CNC manufacturing workflows and production environments is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to balance design intent, functionality, cost, and manufacturability.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative, team-first mindset.
