About the client:

Our client is a well-established construction equipment rental provider across Canada. Due to company’s expansion, they are adding a Regional Sales Manager who will be responsible for expanding market share for existing product lines, while driving the company to grow into new fleet categories. This role is a blend of high-level strategic planning, managing sales representatives, and strengthening customer relationships.

 

The new hire will guide the company towards sales goals, growth objectives, market share growth, customer satisfaction, and employee satisfaction. The Western Canadian Regional Sales Manager will report to the President and work closely with Finance, Operations, Fleet management while collaborating with the Eastern Regional Sales Manager to execute strategic goals.

 

Please Note: this role can be based in either Calgary or Edmonton, AB.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a regional sales plan to meet and exceed annual revenue and profitability targets.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a team of outside and inside sales representatives, providing coaching to improve closing techniques and customer satisfaction.
  • Partnering with the finance team to evaluate and interpret results in all KPI areas and developing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Working with the Fleet Manager and sales reps ensure the desired used equipment is being sold to customers. Work with the Social Media Manager to create promotional materials for sales events.
  • Working with the Human Resources Manager on hiring for open roles across the sales team.
  • Conduct visits to branches and organize sales events for sales reps.
  • Attend industry trade shows occasionally.
  • Evaluate market trends and suggest investments in new types of fleet.
  • Communicate with key accounts as required to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure business operations are in accordance with Company Policy and Procedures.
  • Maintain and improve competitive position by analysis of market and knowledge of competitors.
  • Ensure cost effectiveness of all operations while maintaining high quality standards using process improvement tools.
  • Ensuring the support of prescribed safety programs and training for the sales team.
  • Provide a monthly sales report for board meetings.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of experience in construction equipment rental
  • Proven success selling equipment rental solutions (material handling strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience leading regional or multi-branch sales teams, including outside and key account sales.
  • Strong track record of achieving or exceeding revenue, margin, and utilization targets
  • Expertise in territory planning, pipeline management, forecasting, and sales coaching
  • Established relationships with general contractors, developers, specialty contractors, and municipal/infrastructure clients
  • Strong understanding of project-based selling, long-term rentals, and strategic account management
  • Solid knowledge of construction jobsite operations, equipment applications, safety standards, and regulations
  • Able to translate customer needs into effective rental and service solutions
  • Strong operational and financial acumen, including rental KPIs, pricing, margin management, and fleet planning
  • Experience partnering closely with branch and operations leadership
  • Proficient with CRM and rental management systems (e.g., Salesforce, AS400 or similar) and data-driven reporting tools
  • Hands-on leadership style with strong communication, negotiation, and change-management skills
  • Willing to travel within the region; valid driver’s license required


Compensation:

  • $140,000-150,000 base salary (not a deal break, negotiable)
