About our client:
Our client is looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join their finance team. This position is responsible for managing full-cycle accounting activities for multiple entities, preparing consolidated financial statements, and ensuring compliance with IFRS standards. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise, particularly in project accounting, strong analytical thinking, and a collaborative mindset.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts receivable, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
- Conduct financial analysis and deliver insights to support strategic business decisions.
- Lead project accounting initiatives across business units; monitor, maintain, and review project costs and budgets.
- Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to support project-related financial management.
- Develop, refine, and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Mentor and support junior accountants with processes, training, and technical guidance.
- Provide expertise on complex accounting topics such as IFRS 16 and other standards.
- Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts and bank statements.
- Ensure ERP system accuracy through audits and process improvements.
- Coordinate with auditors and ensure tax filings and statutory reporting (GST, WCB, etc.) are completed accurately and on time.
- Assist with government remittances and filings for multiple entities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation.
- 4+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, ideally in a multi-entity environment.
- Proven experience with project accounting and cost tracking.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and Canadian financial regulations.
- Skilled in month-end and year-end close processes and general ledger management.
- Experience leading or mentoring junior accounting staff.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial data to non-financial team members.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion with confidential information.
- Experience with real estate and construction industry an asset
- Organized, self-motivated, and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite preferred).
