Position Overview:
Our client is a growing R&D, manufacturing and recycling company. They are looking for a key accountant to support the leadership team. The accountant will report directly to the company owner and will oversee a part-time bookkeeper and a payroll person.
We are targeting a smart individual who has potential to grow with the business. Ideal candidate will be strong in both the day-to-day accounting and in-depth financial analysis to support decision makers. Opportunity to build the team as the company grows.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including variance analysis.
- Oversee accuracy and inventory balances per company policies.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules.
- Assist in annual income tax and other regulatory filings.
- Oversee payroll processing.
- Supervise and train accounting staff on full-cycle accounting processes as required.
- Conduct internal controls assessments and risk reviews.
- Support system implementations and process improvements.
- Provide ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis as required.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation or other finance and accounting designation
- 5+ years of progressive experience in full-cycle accounting.
- Experience with an inventory-based company, R&D and SHED is preferred
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently under tight deadlines and prioritise effectively.
- Experience with QuickBooks or NetSuite preferred.
