Construction Superintendent

Our client is looking to add a Construction Superintendent to their team as projects ramp up.The ideal candidate is a highly experienced Superintendent with a strong background in large-scale earthworks within mining environments, particularly involving tailings storage facility construction, dam building, and high-volume material movement. This individual is a hands-on, production-driven leader with a boots-on-the ground approach who understands how to manage haul cycles, optimize equipment utilization, and drive daily production targets while maintaining strict safety and quality standards.

They possess proven experience coordinating large crews, heavy equipment fleets, borrow development, and aggregate/rip-rap production, and are comfortable working closely with survey, quality control, and engineering teams to meet technical specifications. The successful candidate thrives in remote mine-site environments, leads from the field, and can make quick, informed decisions under demanding operational conditions.


Qualifications


  • 10+ years of heavy civil or mining earthworks experience, including significant time in a Superintendent or senior Supervisory/Forman leadership role.
  • BC Mine Supervisor Certification or Mine Shiftboss Certification
  • Proven experience managing large-scale earthmoving operations involving high-volume movement of materials such as till, gravel, aggregates, rock, and rip rap.
  • Direct experience working on mine sites, including familiarity with Mine Act regulations, mine-site safety standards, and remote project logistics.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising construction of tailings storage facilities, large earthfill dams, or similar major containment structures.
  • Strong understanding of haul cycle management, equipment productivity, and coordination of large heavy equipment fleets (haul trucks, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, compactors, etc.).
  • Experience working with survey, GPS machine control systems, compaction testing, and quality control processes for engineered earthworks.


General Duties and Responsibilities


• Provide strong, visible leadership across multiple active work fronts in large-scale mining and heavy civil earthworks environments.

• Lead, delegate, motivate, and manage crews to achieve daily, weekly, and project production targets related to high-volume earthmoving operations.

• Plan, coordinate, and schedule manpower, subcontractors, and equipment to optimize haul cycles, production efficiency, and material movement.

• Maintain a boots-on-the-ground presence to actively monitor and drive production in real time.


Safety & Regulatory Compliance


• Ensure strict compliance with all Company Policies and Procedures, WorkSafeBC regulations, Mine Act requirements, and site-specific safety standards.

• Conduct Tailgate/Toolbox Meetings and enforce and review FLHAs.
