Senior Estimator

We are looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to join a reputable General Contractor based in the Lower Mainland. This is a fully in-office position offering a flexible compensation package, including a performance bonus and opportunities for career advancement.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting directly to the VP of Pre-Construction, the Senior Estimator is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the estimating and bidding process.
  • Lead the end-to-end preparation of project bids, including quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and evaluation of supplier and subcontractor quotes.
  • Develop and submit precise and comprehensive cost estimates for assigned projects.
  • Maintain and update databases for suppliers, subcontractors, and pricing information.
  • Prepare Construction Management and Design-Build proposals, as well as responses to RFQs and RFPs.
  • Participate in client meetings and assist with project handover and startup.
  • Contribute to project evaluations and lessons-learned sessions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators and promote continuous improvement in estimating practices.
  • Uphold accuracy, consistency, and quality standards across all estimating activities.

 

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of experience in construction estimating within Canada, working for a general contractor, developer, or subcontractor.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Skilled in using estimating software, Microsoft Office applications, and advanced spreadsheet development.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with strong analytical and numerical capabilities.
  • Solid understanding of construction contracts, tendering, and procurement procedures.
  • Post-secondary education or technical training in estimating, construction management, or a related discipline is an asset but not required.
