We are looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to join a reputable General Contractor based in the Lower Mainland. This is a fully in-office position offering a flexible compensation package, including a performance bonus and opportunities for career advancement.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting directly to the VP of Pre-Construction, the Senior Estimator is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the estimating and bidding process.
- Lead the end-to-end preparation of project bids, including quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and evaluation of supplier and subcontractor quotes.
- Develop and submit precise and comprehensive cost estimates for assigned projects.
- Maintain and update databases for suppliers, subcontractors, and pricing information.
- Prepare Construction Management and Design-Build proposals, as well as responses to RFQs and RFPs.
- Participate in client meetings and assist with project handover and startup.
- Contribute to project evaluations and lessons-learned sessions.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators and promote continuous improvement in estimating practices.
- Uphold accuracy, consistency, and quality standards across all estimating activities.
Qualifications:
- 8-10 years of experience in construction estimating within Canada, working for a general contractor, developer, or subcontractor.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Proficient in interpreting blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Skilled in using estimating software, Microsoft Office applications, and advanced spreadsheet development.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with strong analytical and numerical capabilities.
- Solid understanding of construction contracts, tendering, and procurement procedures.
- Post-secondary education or technical training in estimating, construction management, or a related discipline is an asset but not required.
