We are seeking an experienced Product Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to the development of new products and the improvement of existing ones, supporting projects from initial concept through to full-scale production.
This position is suited for individuals who combine strong technical expertise with creativity who enjoys working in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects and collaborate across multiple functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop new products using a variety of manufacturing processes (e.g., plastics, metals, machining, forming, and fabrication).
- Build and evaluate prototypes to validate design concepts.
- Support cost estimation and design optimization efforts.
- Create and maintain production drawings and technical documentation.
- Develop quality control methods and testing procedures.
- Evaluate and validate materials for product applications.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing processes, equipment, automation, and safety.
- Perform occasional CNC programming or similar machine setup tasks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, quality, and commercial functions.
- Coordinate with external suppliers and vendors as needed.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in product design and/or manufacturing that involves printing and/or sheet metal.
- Experience with manufacturing processes that involve plastic extrusion, injection molding, sheet metal, die cut plastic and wire bending.
- Strong experience in product design for manufacturing.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion or similar).
- Experience producing technical drawings for manufacturing.
- Familiarity with tooling, fixtures, and high-volume production environments.
- Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
