About the client:
The organization we are representing is a fast-growing, construction-focused equipment rental company serving contractors who demand trusted equipment, high service levels, and partners who solve complex site challenges. They supply a broad range of fleet and site-support solutions and are building a differentiated business around operational excellence, reliability, and customer experience.
They are currently seeking a Director of Operations who can build and run the internal operating engine that makes sustainable growth possible. The new hire will be responsible for professionalizing day-to-day execution, institutionalizing best practices, and building the operational backbone that allows the organization to scale efficiently and predictably.
This full-time, permanent role owns execution across operations, maintenance, logistics, parts, rentals, systems, and people development and will be based in Delta, BC.
Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Own full day-to-day operations including yard operations, logistics and dispatch, maintenance, parts, and rental execution
- Revamp, enforce, and continuously improve Operational processes and workflows.
- Design and implement operational capacity plans to stay ahead of the company's growth trajectory
- Ensure every department is executing to defined standards and metrics with clear accountability at every level
- Proactively surface and resolve operational bottlenecks before they impact customers or revenue
- Partner with the business leader to translate strategic priorities into operational action plans
Systems & Process
- Build and maintain a centralized, version-controlled SOP library ensuring it is documented, actively used, and updated
- Create role-based training manuals and standardized onboarding programs for every operational function
- Own ERP system optimization, configuration integrity, and user adoption across all departments
- Build KPI dashboards and department scorecards so leadership has real-time visibility into what matters
- Implement and run EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) or equivalent operating framework
- Ensure knowledge is embedded in documentation and systems, not concentrated in individuals
People & Organization
- Lead, develop, and hold accountable all operational department managers — build a strong, self-sufficient leadership layer
- Own the performance management system: goal setting, regular reviews, and genuine accountability for results
- Design operational org structure and resourcing plans to support scale
- Build leadership bench strength and redundancy, ensure no single person is a critical dependency
- Drive training, development programs, and a culture of continuous improvement across all operational teams
Execution & Continuous Improvement
- Own internal project prioritization and end-to-end execution — from scope to delivery
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement: identify root causes, implement fixes, and prevent recurrence
- Systematically identify and eliminate operational friction points that slow the team or create customer impact
- Ensure problems are solved once, correctly, and permanently — not patched repeatedly
- Maintain an improvement roadmap that is aligned to company's growth priorities and direction from the Vice President
Qualifications:
Experience & Background
- Proven senior operations leader at Director or VP level with a record of scaling multi-department businesses
- Experience in asset-intensive or operationally complex environments such as equipment rental, logistics, or construction
- Built operating systems and SOP frameworks from the ground up, establishing structure and accountability
- Led ERP implementation or major system optimization with enterprise-wide adoption
- Owned full operational budgets with clear P&L accountability and measurable performance outcomes
- Built, developed, and held accountable a manager-level leadership team
- Demonstrated ability to assess talent, elevate standards, and align people to the right roles

Compensation:
- $140-170k annual base salary
- Performance-based bonus (15-20% of base salary)
