About Our Client:

Our client is an engineering consulting firm with a focus on public sector clients. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer Manager to join their team. This person will be part of their building services multidisciplinary team, leading a team of 5. We are looking for a senior mechanical engineer who is ready to step into management and continue to do high quality engineering work, or, an engineering manager already in leadership. Candidates will work on diverse projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage and mentor a team of highly motivated and skilled mechanical engineers, EITs and CAD technicians
  • Allocate resources to projects, ensuring team members are properly supported and projects are executed as per contract requirements
  • Perform engineering work, in support of the team’s projects and mandates, while also managing the team
  • Conduct performance reviews, manage resource allocation, and drive department improvement
  • Serve as the senior technical authority for mechanical system design
  • Perform engineering calculations, detailed designs, and producing drawings using Bluebeam
  • Conduct on-site surveys and precise measurements for both new and retrofit mechanical construction projects
  • Complete condition assessments and prepare comprehensive reports on existing building mechanical systems
  • Leverage contacts and industry knowledge to land and manage projects related to rail and bus infrastructure, police, fire & ambulance services, schools & universities, community centers, government office buildings, laboratories and other governmental facilities
  • Liaise with clients to ensure continued relationships and client satisfaction
  • Design and review of HVAC systems (including chillers, boilers, heat pumps, fans, RTUs, MAUs) as well as plumbing, drainage, fire protection, and specialty mechanical systems (e.g., refrigeration, fuel supply/storage).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, innovative engineering solutions
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, regulations, and client specifications
  • Provide technical expertise and field-based solutions to support project execution


Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation 
  • At least 10 years of experience in the engineering and design of building mechanical systems
  • Strong experience with diverse mechanical systems and infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Bluebeam
  • Strong technical skills and familiarity with industry-specific software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork
  • Able to travel to various sites, using your own vehicle (reimbursement of mileage will be provided)
  • Excited to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse range of projects
  • Analytically minded individual who is organized and happy to share their knowledge as a technical resource
