About Our Client:
Our client is a well-known, Canadian building materials supplier. They offer products to service the entire spectrum of contractors, specializing in niche products.
We are looking to hire a Sales Manager for BC to join their team, based in the Greater Vancouver Area. This person will manage a team of outside sales representatives across BC and be responsible for sales results and key accounts across the region. This role requires daily office presence at their head office in the Vancouver area and some travel to offices throughout the Province of BC.
The compensation package will include a base salary in the $130-150k range, as well as a bonus, car allowance, full benefits, vacation and more.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans in support of organizational strategy and objectives
- Create and implement sales strategies aligned with company goals, including territory allocation and lead generation tactics.
- Direct sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals by territory and product line
- Set individual and team sales targets, ensure clear expectations and accountability for achieving goals.
- Propose and execute policies and programs to achieve maximum sales volume potential for product lines
- Review market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, and discount rates
- Oversee the sales pipeline, identify potential bottlenecks, and take proactive measures to move deals forward.
- Direct product simplification and standardization to eliminate unprofitable items from sales line
- Participate in overall corporate sales strategy planning
- Budget and sales plan review and quarterly commission calculation
- Responsible for the organizational structure development of the sales department
- Provide goals and objectives to outside sales representatives
- Develop and manage the sales team including training and performance evaluations
- Build training programs and training documents
- Track sales metrics, analyze sales data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Coordinate sales efforts with other regional sales managers
- Deliver sales presentations to key clients in coordination with sales representatives
- Meet with key clients, assisting sales representatives with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals
- Coordinate liaison between the sales department and other sales related units
- Analyze and control expenses of the sales team to conform to budget
- Prepare periodic sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion
- Monitor and evaluate sales activities and products of the competition
- Evaluate and monitor sales results
- Trains new sales representatives
- Maintain and develop vendor relationships
- Resolve customer technical issues
- Coordinate with HR on personnel issues and executing disciplinary actions as required
- Visit branches across the provinces, providing sales support
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years experience at a senior level in construction sales
- Sales management experience - proven experience managing a team of outside sales representatives
- Strong understanding of the construction market
- Experience working in a fast-paced, rapid-growth environment
- Exceptional communication, people development, interpersonal and team-building skills
- Strong customer orientation
- Thorough knowledge of the construction and glazing industry
