A large manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Director of Logistics to lead its end to end logistics operation across multiple locations. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring that inbound and outbound product movement happens on time, at the right cost, and with a consistently high level of service.
The Director of Logistics will oversee shipping and warehouse teams while owning transportation strategy, inbound freight planning, carrier relationships, warehouse performance, and logistics KPIs. This person will work closely with senior leadership and other departments to anticipate capacity needs, improve execution, and develop a forward looking logistics strategy.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader of leaders who combines strong warehouse and transportation knowledge with data driven decision making, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Own end to end logistics performance across inbound, outbound, inter warehouse transfers, and special or emergency shipments
• Lead shipping and warehouse teams across multiple locations
• Establish clear expectations, operating processes, and accountability for managers and frontline supervisors
• Drive on time shipping and on time delivery performance
• Direct transportation strategy, including routing, delivery schedules, carrier mix, service levels, and delivery zones
• Balance transportation cost, speed, safety, and service quality
• Oversee international and domestic inbound freight planning, including ETAs and appointment windows
• Ensure inbound freight supports production schedules and outbound readiness
• Manage carriers, brokers, and third party logistics partners, including pricing, contracts, performance, claims, and corrective actions
• Oversee company freight operations, including drivers, trucks, warehouses, utilization, safety, and service performance
• Develop and monitor logistics KPIs to identify delays, capacity issues, damages, claims, and unnecessary costs
• Use data and reporting to drive corrective actions through completion
• Improve warehouse and logistics processes, systems, and tools across all locations
• Standardize best practices for staging, loading, accuracy, and shipment readiness
• Drive continuous improvement using Warehouse Management Systems, Transportation Management Systems, ERP systems, and other logistics technology
• Develop strong leaders and maintain accountability throughout the logistics organization
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of logistics or shipping leadership experience in a high volume manufacturing or distribution environment required
• Proven experience leading managers, supervisors, and large operational teams
• Multi location logistics experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and inbound and outbound freight
• Experience with both domestic and international shipping
• Proven track record improving on time shipping and delivery performance
• Experience reducing damages, claims, and overall logistics costs
• Strong experience managing carriers, brokers, and logistics partners
• Comfortable negotiating rates, managing service levels, and conducting performance reviews
• Strong knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems, Transportation Management Systems, ERP systems, dashboards, and logistics reporting
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to use KPIs to identify problems and drive improvements
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem solving skills
• Spanish language skills are a plus
