Education Coordinator

Responsible for planning and supervising the implementation of the Early Head Start Education Performance Standards. Development and monitoring of professional growth for classroom staff through professional training (i.e. CDA, O.C.F.S. requirements, in-service training, Head Start Performance Standards etc.). 27.5 hours per week.



Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Director, teaching staff, social services staff, health coordinator and outside consultants as they relate to children, classroom environment and teachers and other component interaction
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of classroom curriculum and monitoring and aggregating of the on-going assessment utilizing Infant/Toddler Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold Assessments (TSG)
  • Monitoring implementation and integration of Infant/Toddler School Readiness Goals
  • Develop, coordinate, support and direct the staff in carrying out developmentally appropriate educational activities through classroom observation and in-service training
  • Demonstrate to staff techniques of teaching and reflective supervision/mentoring through:
  • Meeting with individual teachers
  • Meeting with teaching teams
  • Developing and arranging workshops
  • Developing an understanding of infant and toddlers needs through training opportunities
  • Observing and evaluating the physical environment of the classroom
  • Responsible for purchasing and monitoring classroom equipment and materials
  • Maintain Aspire Training Registry
  • Work as a staff development specialist in cooperation with specialist training coordinators when necessary i.e. CDA, A.A., O.C.F.S. requirements
  • Interview prospective teaching staff members with personnel committee
  • Provide orientation meeting for parents on aspects of the curriculum, classroom management and program protocols
  • Maintain resource library for teaching staff
  • Responsible for completing five year goals and document activities
  • Responsible for aggregating IT TSG data 3 times a year
  • Responsible for yearly teacher evaluations and professional development plans. Professional development plans need to be updated twice annually in February and August. 
  • Monthly Ed summary report, detailing activities done monthly
  • Responsible for supervising music consultant monthly, setting up scheduling, billing, and renewing her contract in September.
  • Caregiver’s payroll supervision
  • In case of an emergency, fill in as classroom teacher
  • Other duties as assigned



Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood/Education required or BA degree with plan for 12 ECE credits
  • MS in Early Childhood preferred.
  • Knowledge of communal customs and mores. 
  • Yiddish language proficiency.
