A growing manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead a core operational function and take ownership of its overall performance. This senior leadership role will oversee areas such as manufacturing, assembly, finishing, picking, or other production functions, with responsibility for safety, quality, delivery, cost, labor efficiency, and team development.
The Director of Operations will operate as the business owner of their function, leading managers through clear performance metrics, disciplined execution, and continuous improvement. In addition to managing current operations, this individual will maintain a forward looking 12 month operational outlook covering capacity, labor planning, capital needs, process improvements, and potential risks based on forecasted demand.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader of leaders who understands both the production floor and the financial side of operations. This person should be able to identify problems, establish scalable processes, hold teams accountable, and build an operation that can support continued company growth.
Key Responsibilities:
• Own the operational and financial performance of the assigned function, including safety, quality, delivery, cost, labor efficiency, and budget results
• Develop production and staffing plans based on forecasts, capacity, and operational requirements
• Lead and develop department managers through clear expectations, accountability, and consistent coaching
• Establish and manage scorecards covering safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity
• Identify performance gaps and drive corrective actions through completion
• Develop a forward looking 12 month operational plan covering capacity, labor, capital requirements, process improvements, and risk mitigation
• Lead strategic improvement initiatives to increase throughput, reduce waste, improve quality, and lower operating costs
• Implement, document, and enforce standardized operational processes
• Apply lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies throughout the operation
• Identify and mitigate risks related to safety, quality, delivery, labor, capacity, and cost
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative controls and sustainable solutions
• Maintain contingency plans to protect operational performance and business continuity
• Communicate performance, risks, and improvement plans to senior leadership and cross functional teams
• Build organizational bench strength through training, workforce planning, and succession planning
• Develop an annual operating roadmap aligned with company growth goals, capacity needs, capital priorities, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
• 7+ years of operational leadership experience in manufacturing, production, warehouse, or industrial environments required
• Proven experience leading managers and other operational leaders
• Strong track record of driving accountability and measurable performance improvements
• Experience implementing and enforcing standardized processes and safety programs
• Strong financial acumen, including budget ownership, cost control, labor planning, and understanding of P&L impact
• Experience applying lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies
• Strong understanding of production efficiency, throughput, waste reduction, and cost of poor quality
• Ability to analyze operational data, identify trends, conduct root cause analysis, and implement sustainable improvements
• Strong workforce and capacity planning skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership and cross functional teams
• Hands on, ownership driven leadership style
• Must be comfortable working full time onsite in a fast paced manufacturing environment

🕒 Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM; Friday, 8 AM to 1 PM
💰 Salary: $200,000 to $250,000/year
