Underwriter Team Lead

The Insurance Underwriting Team Leader will handle new quotes, renewals, and client-facing communication, supporting brokers and ensuring all submissions are accurately prepared and sent to multiple markets. This role requires someone highly intelligent, quick to learn, detail oriented, and capable of juggling many moving parts.

You will work closely with brokers, vendors, and in-office support staff, ensuring a smooth, professional underwriting process. This office operates with a team of full time women and a separate men’s team, so candidates should be comfortable working within that structure.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage underwriting workflow for new quotes, renewals, and prospects
  • Shop each quote across 5–6 insurance markets (email, phone, software platforms)
  • Communicate professionally with brokers to gather information and present intelligent, well prepared submissions
  • Maintain strong relationships with direct clients for renewals and new leads
  • Review coverage needs, pricing, and market appetite
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to office support staff
  • Ensure accuracy, organization, and timely follow up on all accounts
  • Learn processes quickly and maintain strong attention to detail


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of professional office experience required
  • Experience in property and casualty underwriting a strong plus
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and workflows simultaneously
  • Detail oriented with sharp analytical ability
  • Fast learner with strong problem solving skills

Salary: $80,000–$130,000/year
