Electrical Engineer / Project Manager

Honolulu, HI (On-site) | Direct Hire

ABOUT OUR CLIENT

Link Network is currently searching on behalf of our client, a well-established engineering consulting firm based in Honolulu. The firm provides electrical engineering design and project management services across Hawaii, with a portfolio that includes commercial buildings, University of Hawaii facilities, and water and wastewater infrastructure. They are known for strong client relationships, a high rate of repeat work, and a culture that values results and flexibility over time spent at a desk.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a new position created to support the firm's growth. Our client is looking for a mid-level Electrical Engineer who can own projects from day one, handling both the design work and the project management that comes with it. You will lead electrical design for power distribution and lighting on commercial and institutional projects, manage your own clients and schedules, and occasionally travel to the neighbor islands for site visits. If you have solid design experience, you know how to run a project, and you want a firm that rewards performance and respects your time outside of work, this role is worth a conversation.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Lead electrical design: Develop electrical designs for power distribution, lighting, and building systems on commercial and institutional projects.

• Produce drawings and specifications: Prepare and review construction drawings, calculations, and technical specifications that meet code, client requirements, and firm standards.

• Plan and coordinate systems: Plan electrical systems from concept through construction documents and coordinate with architects, mechanical, civil, and structural disciplines.

• Manage projects end to end: Own project scope, schedule, budget, and fees. Track project profitability and keep deliverables on time.

• Serve as the client lead: Act as the main point of contact for clients, run meetings, communicate progress, and build relationships that lead to repeat work.

• Support water and wastewater work: Contribute electrical design on water and wastewater facilities such as pump stations and treatment plants.

• Provide construction phase support: Review submittals, respond to RFIs, perform site observations, and support closeout.

• Travel to neighbor islands: Visit project sites on the neighbor islands roughly 6 to 8 times a year.

• Ensure quality and compliance: Apply NEC and local code requirements and maintain QA/QC on all deliverables.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Experience: 5 to 10 years of electrical engineering experience. This role is for someone who can step in and produce without training.

• Design background: Hands-on electrical design experience including drawings, system planning, and specifications.

• Project management: Proven experience managing projects, budgets, schedules, and clients. This is a must.

• Power and lighting expertise: Strong working knowledge of power distribution and lighting design for commercial projects.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

• Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, not required. Candidates actively working toward their PE are encouraged to apply.

• Water and wastewater experience: Design experience on water or wastewater projects is a plus, not required.

• Consulting background: Experience at a consulting engineering firm is nice to have, not required.

• Communication: Clear written and verbal communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

$100,000 to $120,000 annually, depending on experience, plus performance bonuses.

• Bonus: Based on project profitability, repeat clients, client feedback, and individual performance.

• Health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance.

• Retirement: 401(k) with a company contribution of 3% of salary.

• Insurance: Group life and disability insurance.

• Time off: Uncapped paid time off.

• Flexible schedule: Flexibility for family events, doctor's appointments, and personal needs, as long as the work gets done.

• Reimbursements: Mileage and business expense reimbursement.
