MS Solutions Engineer - L4 Engineer - Large MS Migrations, Email Migrations - 40, 100. 500, Enterprise 


Salary Range: $90,000 – $120,000

Work Schedule: Onsite, 5 days per week

On-Call: 1 week every 7 weeks (secondary escalation)

Role Overview

The MS Systems Engineer (L4) is a senior technical role focused on the design and delivery of large-scale Microsoft solutions, including enterprise Microsoft 365 and Azure migrations (40, 100, 500+ users and enterprise environments).


This position combines solution architecture, project leadership, and hands-on engineering, working closely with vCIOs, sales teams, and engineers to scope, design, and deliver high-impact Microsoft-based solutions.



Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Project Leadership

  • Lead solution architecture for Microsoft technologies, including Azure, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Drive technical discovery, research, and scope definition for complex projects
  • Create detailed statements of work (SOWs), architecture diagrams, and implementation plans
  • Estimate project timelines, resource requirements, and technical effort


Technical Delivery & Analysis

  • Lead and support large Microsoft migrations, including email and tenant-to-tenant migrations
  • Perform system performance analysis and present findings to both technical and executive stakeholders
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with business requirements


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with vCIOs, sales, and engineering teams to qualify opportunities and define technical scope
  • Provide technical guidance throughout the sales and delivery lifecycle
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal technical development initiatives


Additional Responsibilities

Technical & Engineering Skills

  • Deep expertise in:
  • Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, PowerShell
  • Entra ID (Azure AD) including MFA, Conditional Access, and RBAC
  • Strong understanding of virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware)
  • Experience with network infrastructure: Routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, QoS, ACLs
  • Advanced skills in solution design, system integration, and performance tuning
  • Proficiency with Windows desktop and server operating systems
  • (Windows XP through Windows 11; Server 2008 R2 through 2022)


Experience Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in IT architecture, consulting, or engineering roles
  • Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise Microsoft solutions
  • Experience working cross-functionally with sales, engineering, and client stakeholders
  • Ongoing commitment to professional growth through certifications and hands-on learning


Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Preferred certifications include:
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
  • MCSA/E, Network+, CCNA (optional but beneficial)
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required


Physical Requirements

  • Regular communication with team members, clients, and vendors in person and remotely
  • Frequent travel to client sites, including driving
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Frequent computer use for documentation, research, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and lift equipment up to 50 pounds as needed
