Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Level 2 Field Engineer to provide hands-on technical support across multiple client environments. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being out in the field, working directly with clients, troubleshooting problems independently, and getting exposure to a wide variety of technologies.
You’ll combine Level 2 technical support with onsite installations, troubleshooting, deployments, and project work while serving as a trusted technical resource for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide onsite and remote Level 2 technical support across multiple client environments.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, Microsoft 365, networking, server, and connectivity issues.
- Administer Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, user accounts, permissions, and Group Policy.
- Support Windows desktops, laptops, servers, printers, mobile devices, and business applications.
- Troubleshoot networking issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, VPNs, switches, and firewalls.
- Install and configure workstations, servers, network equipment, wireless access points, printers, and other technology.
- Perform new-user setups, equipment deployments, office moves, and technology refreshes.
- Assist with Microsoft 365, server, network, and cloud migrations and implementations.
- Support client onboarding and technology projects.
- Diagnose onsite issues independently and determine the appropriate resolution or escalation path.
- Take ownership of client issues from initial troubleshooting through resolution.
- Coordinate with senior engineers when an issue requires additional expertise.
- Communicate clearly with clients about technical issues, progress, and next steps.
- Identify potential technology, security, or infrastructure concerns while onsite and communicate them internally.
- Maintain accurate ticket notes, client documentation, configurations, and time entries.
- Follow established technical, security, documentation, and escalation processes.
What We’re Looking For
- 2–5+ years of professional IT support experience.
- Previous MSP experience strongly preferred.
- Experience providing onsite technical support in business environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently in the field.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory and Entra ID.
- Experience supporting Windows workstations and Windows Server environments.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Wi-Fi, switches, and firewalls.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting network and infrastructure equipment.
- Exposure to Azure, Intune, virtualization, backup/disaster recovery, and cybersecurity solutions is a plus.
- Experience with RMM, PSA/ticketing, and remote-support platforms preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Professional and comfortable representing the company independently at client sites.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and travel between client locations as needed.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
What Success Looks Like
A successful Level 2 Field Engineer can walk into a client environment, assess the situation, troubleshoot independently, communicate confidently with the client, and take ownership of getting the problem solved.
You’re equally comfortable troubleshooting a Microsoft 365 issue, installing a workstation, tracking down a network problem, assisting with a deployment, or recognizing when something needs to be escalated.
This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to continue developing toward Level 3, Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, or Project Engineer while gaining broad hands-on experience across different client environments.
