Position: Lumber Sales Manager
Location: Saint John, New Brunswick
Travel Requirements: Canada and USA - Passport required
Our client is seeking a motivated and results-driven SPF Lumber Sales Manager Lumber Sales & Marketing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building strong customer relationships, and is passionate about driving business growth. You should have experience with B2B softwood lumber sales, and be able to travel in Central and Eastern North American markets. You will enter this position with an established book of business (85%) and responsible for business development (15%).
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver required sales volumes and manage sales plans within the Lumber Division.
- Negotiate pricing and maintain annual contracts with key customers to maximize contribution margins.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular communication (email, calls, and visits).
- Oversee customer service by coordinating with logistics and supply teams to ensure customer needs are met.
- Resolve customer issues in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Support the planning and preparation of marketing and promotional materials.
- Identify competitive advantages and leverage them to increase margins.
- Contribute to establishing credit and managing accounts receivable.
- Assist in developing sales forecasts, budgets, and long-term sales strategies.
- Manage inventory levels through contracts and spot sales to achieve targets.
- Collect and analyze market trends to inform sales strategy and business positioning.
- Prepare and distribute sales reports to support cross-departmental communication.
- Collaborate effectively across departments and foster strong internal relationships.
- Adapt to changing business conditions in a dynamic role.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (Business preferred).
- 3–5 years of experience in sales, business development, account management, and/or customer service.
- Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, logistics, customer service, and financial principles (KPI tracking, P&L analysis, order flow management).
- Knowledge of international business practices is an asset.
- Bilingual in English and French is an advantage (not required).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel occasionally within North America (valid passport and driver’s license required).
