Paper Mill Operations Superintendent

New Brunswick, Canada

As the Operations Superintendent you will provide leadership across a complex paper manufacturing operation, including the Paper Machine, OCC System, NSSC Pulp Mill, and Environmental Treatment Plant.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Lead Operations Across a Fully Integrated Paper Manufacturing Facility


Operations Leadership

  • Provide overall operational leadership across the Paper Machine, OCC System, NSSC Pulp Mill, and Environmental Treatment Plant
  • Support safe, efficient, and reliable operations across the full fiber-to-paper process
  • Drive production performance, quality, runnability, fiber consistency, and environmental compliance
  • Lead daily troubleshooting and problem-solving activities with operations teams
  • Identify and address operational bottlenecks, process upsets, and system inefficiencies
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, waste reduction, process stability, and operational performance


Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and support Operations Team Leaders and production teams across multiple operating areas
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture built on communication, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Coach and mentor supervisors and operators to strengthen technical capability and leadership depth
  • Support succession planning and employee development initiatives
  • Promote strong safety performance and operational discipline throughout the facility
  • Assist with employee relations and performance management within a unionized environment


Reliability & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate closely with Maintenance, Reliability, and Technical teams to improve uptime and process stability
  • Support planned shutdowns, reliability assessments, and major maintenance activities
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions to eliminate chronic operational issues
  • Partner with technical teams to optimize process conditions and improve quality and consistency
  • Support implementation of new operating strategies and process improvements


Safety, Environmental & Quality

  • Lead by example in driving a zero-incident safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits, regulations, and company standards
  • Support strong environmental stewardship and Environmental Treatment Plant performance
  • Maintain high product quality standards and support ISO-aligned processes and audits


What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this position you must possess the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary education in a related technical discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience within industrial manufacturing
  • Experience in pulp and paper manufacturing considered a strong asset
  • Strong operational troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Continuous improvement mindset with strong communication and leadership skills
  • Passion for developing people and building strong operational teams
