Job Title: Mainframe Training Specialist (COBOL/JCL/z/OS/RACF)

Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Mainframe Training Specialist to deliver online/on‑demand training that upskills our team working on critical legacy systems. You will design and deliver practical, role‑relevant learning paths across COBOL, JCL, mainframe databases (DB2/IMS/VSAM), z/OS, and RACF security.

Key Responsibilities

·        Create modular, on‑demand courses and live virtual sessions covering:

-         COBOL Programming: fundamentals, structured programming, data types, file handling, batch processing, debugging, use of Panvelet, and maintenance/modernization best practices.

-         JCL: syntax, structure, utilities, procedures, dataset management, workflow automation, and troubleshooting.

-         Mainframe Databases: DB2/IMS/VSAM fundamentals; navigation, queries, application interactions; backup, recovery, and performance concepts.

-         Mainframe Operating Systems (z/OS): architecture, components, TSO/ISPF, datasets and utilities, and system navigation.

-         RACF / Security & IMS Concepts: RACF principles, administration, user/group management, authorization, auditing/compliance; IMS architecture, control blocks, transactions, DB/DC functions.

·        Assess learner skill levels, tailor learning paths, and provide hands‑on labs, exercises, and job‑task simulations.

·        Track progress for learners and report outcomes, skill gaps, and completion metrics.

·        Offer office hours, Q&A forums, and code walkthroughs.

·        Iterate content based on feedback and production use cases.

·        Adhere to the no‑subcontracting requirement and deliver all content via online/on‑demand modalities.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands‑on mainframe experience across COBOL, JCL, z/OS, TSO/ISPF, and VSAM; strong familiarity with DB2 and/or IMS in enterprise environments
• Practical expertise in RACF administration (user/group management, access control, auditing, compliance).
• Proven track record designing and delivering online/on‑demand technical training with measurable outcomes.
• Ability to build hands‑on labs, troubleshoot learner issues, and connect concepts to real‑world legacy application maintenance and modernization.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
